Preview of the New Firefox plugin..

We have been working away on the latest version of the Firefox plugin.. here is a sneak preview of what's about to released in version 1.1.5

As you browse the internet or e-mails if there's an address you would like to find or save for later all you need to do is select the address, right - click and select Create a PinPoint or select it from the toolbar. We'll then only need you to name the PinPoint so you can tell it apart from other PinPoints and once that's done we'll give you a PinPoint that you can view or share without leaving your e-mail or current web page.

Nokia n900

So we got to play with a Nokia n900 phone for the past week. We are testing some new features on the PinPoints site and Nokia phone was needed. Well, it’s not really a phone – It’s more like a small tablet PC!

Yes it makes phone calls, yes it sends and receives SMS’s and PinPoints, but let me explain why it’s a Tablet PC and not a phone.

New Chrome Extension

Ever found an address on a web-page and want to map it for yourself? Or maybe you want to share it with your friends?

Chrome users we have the thing for you! The PinPoints Chrome extension is now released!
(Update to the FireFox Addon is on the way!)
Grab it here!

With the launch of the extension, we've put a 1 minute overview of PinPoints together - We would love to hear what you think of it!

yippie for yppie!

We are delighted to announce our second App on the Ovi store, yppie, has gone live today.

So, what can one do with yppie?
Well, on your Nokia phone, you can PinPoint your location & share the link (a yppie) with your friends, family and loved ones. The yppie can be clicked on any phone and will show exactly where you are. It can be also clicked on a PC/laptop and it will show your location in your favourite mapping software (Bing Maps, Google Maps etc.)

Site Update: April

As you've probably noticed we've been moving things around over the past couple of days.

One thing you may have noticed is the improved User Interface. It's easier than ever to create and send PinPoints! We look forward to hearing your feedback.

We'd like to bring your attention to one other item: PinPoints generated prior to 21st of April. All previously created pinpoints will work, but they are not listed under 'Manage'. To say sorry for this we've topped your account back up to 10 free SMS!

Thanks,
Ronan from yourpinpoints.com

We've been working away with the next version of the site! The blog design is a sneak preview of the cosmetic changes but it doesn't stop there. We have listen to your feedback and made major changes under the hood. We've added some really nifty new search features, simplified the sign-up process added buddy lists and favourite list. We should be ready to release it very shortly so stay tunned!

Get Satisfied!

We got requests for the 'make a wish' feature to be enhanced - so we looked to rewrite but somebody suggested (thanks Jo!) instead of rewriting it incorporate GetSatisfaction
(you guys over at GetSatisfaction rock.. great service!)

so we did .. and you know what? it's great. Really looking forward to hearing what you guys have to say.. So where do you get satisfaction?

google maps now supported on S60 devices

Google has created a version of its Google Maps application for S60 3rd Edition phones. Google Maps is now a native Symbian OS 9 application, which gives better overall performance compared to Java version. As an added bonus, the application now supports the use of the internal GPS in relevant phones; allowing you to see your current location. It also integrates with Nokia's Landmark application which means yourpinpoints.com now talks to google maps! Very nice.

It's in the wild!

So a "hurrah" is in order..
Version 1.0.7 of the Mozilla Firefox plugin PinPoints is released and is in the public..

A special thanks to Tiago for all his help on this..

Get it now!
